The Head of State presided over the ceremony celebrating the 39th anniversary of the independence of the Comoros.

On 6 July 2014, the Head of State, His Excellence Dr Ikililou Dhoinine, presided over the ceremony celebrating the 39th anniversary of the accession of the Comoros to international sovereignty, in the presence of the President of the Republic Dr Ikililou Dhoinine, the Vice Presidents, members of the Government of the Union and executives of the islands, the Presidents of the National Assembly, the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court, the Governor of the Autonomous Island of Ngazidja and the Commissioners, members of the Presidential Cabinet, former Heads of State, ulemas with, at their head, his Eminence the Grand Mufti, representatives from the diplomatic corps accredited in the Union of the Comoros, public figures from all over the island, administrative officials, various associations, women and young people.
Exactly 39 years ago, on 6 July 1975, the late President Ahmed Abdallah Abdérémane, God rest his soul, supported by the elected members of the Chamber of Deputies of the time, unilaterally proclaimed the independence of the Comoros.
This year, the festivities were honoured by the present of the Malagasy Minister for Post, Telecommunications and Tourism, Admiral Alexander, Second in Command of the American Armed Forces stationed at Djibouti, Jean Michel, Commander of the Réunion police force and several foreign delegations. As the month of Ramadan requires, the ceremony was entirely military and started according to tradition, with the fatiha and verses of the Holy Koran. The Mayor of Moroni then gave a welcoming speech and greeted the audience, larger than usual, before the President then decorated distinguished men and women for their services rendered to the Nation, by awarding them the rank of Knight in the Order of the Star of Anjouan: Hamidi Mohamed, Issa Mohamed Mgomri, Armand Humblot posthumously and MM Hachim Mohamed Ali; Said Omar Salim, Hatim Ahmed Nadhir, Mohamed Hamada, Abdou Bacar Soilihi and Mme Faouzia Said Ahmed.
After the military parade, the festivities were concluded by the procession of all of the units and vehicles of the AND.
